Sorry!

Hi Guys

How have you been?  I’ve been up to my eyes in it, taking action and making progress, but along the way I’ve neglected this blog, and you know how it is the longer you leave blogging the more you get out of the habit, so a big sorry and a promise not to leave it so long again.

Well I’ve been taking action and trying new things, how about you?

I have been using YouTube.com a lot!  making short videos using Animoto and PowerPoint to drive traffic to my affiliate sites.  This has proved very effective, but I have to say that although I have had great traffic and lots of click throughs, the Clickbank products I choose didn’t convert as well as I had hoped.  I chose products with high gravity but only sold modest amounts.

Because of this I am now starting to promote physical goods from Amazon and Commission Junction, yes I know they have a small commission but I am finding that the conversion is higher and so are the pay checks.  As with all affiliate marketing it is a numbers game so I am churning sites out at the moment, particularly with the holiday season fast approaching.

What system am I using? Info Product Killer, it’s working for me check it out for yourself.  It’s got the usual pdfs along with step by step videos which I always find speed up my learning curve, great support too, I got a really quick response (inside an hour) to an email from the owner himself – Craig Kaye, he explained  at length and was really friendly.  Check it out if you fancy adding a lucrative “string to your bow”  Info Product Killer.

Till next time keep taking action

Traffic Generation Summit

Hi Everyone

How have you been?

How’s your business doing?

Well I’m still flying after this weekend.  I spent 3 days learning from some of the worlds most successful Internet Marketers as Mark Anastasi’s Traffic Generation Summit in London.

I rubbed sholders with Jennie Armato, she was so much fun, as were Sean Roach, Mark Vurnum, Alan Forest-Smith, Jeff Mills, Gareth Owen, Matt Bacak and Armand Morin plus many many more…

It was amazing! Apart form some great content they were all so approachable chatting to the delegates between presentations, I must admit to being a bit star struck with Armand Morin so couldn’t talk to him :)

To cap it all I won a prize! 2 months 1 on 1 coaching with Mark Anastasi and a small 3 day Masterclass with him. I am so excited I feel like it is Christmas in June!

The point of this post isn’t to brag but say how important continuing our education is, I learnt so many new traffic generation techniques this weekend I could blog daily for a month and not cover half of them.  On top of that I got to meet some amazing new people and made some very useful contacts – and won an amazing prize which will transform my business, ah I may come down to earth by Christmas.

Take care and keep taking action.

Get Going

get-going

Hi There

How’s it going?  Well I hope, if your having any problems make a comment below and I will try to help.  We are all in the same boat – don’t be shy speak up.

Well hopefully you have set your goals and made your plans, now it’s time to GET GOING.  In many ways this is the hardest part, the goals and the plans have hopefully been quiet straight forward, you know what you want and if you know roughly how much money you will have to make to get there.

The problems start when you have to work out what methods you are going to use to make your money.

Will it be PPC? SEO? Bum marketing? Social media? Article writing? Email marketing?

The choice is endless, every day we get emails dropping into our inboxes promising instant riches all we have to do is buy their wonderful new system or software.  Has it worked for you yet?  No me neither, I have been as guilty as everyone else jumping from shiny object to shiny object like a demented magpie, problem is I made just about as much money as that magpie – a big fat $0.

It wasn’t until I read an article by Perry Marshall that the penny finally dropped for me.  He said that you need to pick just one system (affiliate marketing, product creation etc.) and one traffic source (PPC, email marketing etc.) and stick to it until it is making you consistent money, only then should you branch out and look at other methods. Once I started to do that I started to make money, not millions – one day :) but money none the less.  It takes focus and persistence, which is hard and like everyone else I fall frequently, but what will get me to my goal is that I just get back up again, dust myself off, learn from it, and move on.

Till next time keep taking action.

Plan

plan2

Hi There,

How are you doing?  Well I hope.

Set your goals yet?  If not why not?  Go set them now!  You can’t get ‘there’ if you don’t know what or where ‘there’ is!

OK you have set your goals, you have made them bold and vivid.  You can feel what it will be like when you have achieved them, and you are living the life and running the business of your dreams.  You know where you are going but you need a road map to get you there.

As you are an Internet Marketer I am guessing that one of your primary goals is to make a large amount of money.  This makes it easier to make plans, if your goal is to earn $500,000 or £1,000,000 a year in 5 years time you can break it down into how much you will have to make each year to achieve this goal.  If your goal is lifestyle or business orientated, work out how much money you would need to have to make your goals possible.  It is easier to plan around a fixed money target, as you can work out/plan what you need to do to make this money.  You can’t just say ‘I want to be rich’ you have to say how rich and have a plan to get you there, other wise it will remain ‘I want’ and never I have!

When you are making your plans break them down into 3 years, 1 year and 3months.  Remember that progress will be slower to start with then you will reach a ‘tipping point’ after which things will speed up.  if your goal is $500,000 a year in 5 years time, the majority of your money will be made in the last year or two, so your plan may be to make $200,000 a year by year 3, and be on target to make $75,000 after 1 year.  This has to be broken down into smaller chunks, you need to know what you have to make in the next 3 months, remember start off slowly then build up momentum as your skills and experience increase.

Once you have a figure for the next 3 months you can work out how many products, either affiliate or your own, you will need to sell  (if you don’t have a product go check out Clickbank, it is free to join and there are thousands of products there to promote)break this down again into the next month, and week, then you can start a daily ‘to do list’.  Been there before and it hasn’t worked?  Try adding in a daily ‘done list’ each night write down what you have done (and how long it has taken you – this will shock you) then write out a realistic ‘to do list’ for the next day, and stick to it! Persistence it the name of the Internet Marketing game, if you give you you can’t succeed.

We all have bad habits we have slipped into over the years, they are our old friends, we gain comfort from their familiarity.  This is not about comfort, it is about change, a change you desperately want and need.  Actions need to be repeated daily for about a month to become a habit.  Repeat these positive planning actions daily for a month, it will seem tedious to start with, but they are the habits you need to acquire to become productive and eventually successful.  Remember if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Till next time – keep taking Action.

Goal Setting

2009-goals

Hi There,

How are you doing?

How’s your Internet Marketing business?

Taken any action yet?

I have, do you want to know how I started?

Well I’m going to tell you anyway!

I sat down quietly on my own with a pen and paper, and thought about where I wanted to be in 5 years time.  I imagined that goal in such detail that I could nearly taste it, I imagined what it would look like, feel like, sound like and smell like got the picture? I did, so well I was there, and I’m going to make dam sure I get there again!

To keep me focused on that goal I wrote it down in great detail, don’t worry about feeling foolish just do it.  The trick is to look at and read out loud your goal regularly, I recommend daily for the 1st month, then once it has stuck and you have fully accepted it as your destiny, you can read it weekly, but keep reading it to keep yourself focused on your goal.

It’s great having a goal, but you need to have a detailed plan of how you are going to get there.  That’s for my next post…..

Till next time – just keep taking action!

Take Action

action2

Hi There,

I have been in Internet marketing for a year now, I’m no expert, I don’t make millions and I don’t have all the answers.  But being older than the average Internet Marketer :) and having a life offline has taught me a thing or two.  I have decided to give IM everything I’ve got over the next year and make it my main income, why don’t you join me and together we can make our own luck and our own futures.  I know it’s going to take hard work but it will be fun as well.

Dreams are free but action pays – an important lesson in life but particularly true in IM, it never ceases to amaze me how many people start out buying products and fail to take action on them.

Do they have money to burn? I don’t think so, particularly in this economic climate.

Do they not want to make money?  I don’t think so, why would they have bought the product in the first place, it certainly wasn’t for an entertaining read, most could be cross indexed under insomnia cure!

No I think they are frightened, maybe they froze at the 1st technical difficulty, or they realized that it was just not as easy as the sales page had led them to believe.

Either way I think most give up rather than risk ‘getting it ‘wrong’  I know I did to start with, if only they would realise that ‘getting it wrong’ is all part of learning, we learn by our mistakes, its what makes us human.  If you don’t make mistakes you can’t be taking ACTION, and if your not taking action you can’t succeed!

To anyone out there who’s having a confidence crisis I say JUST DO IT, it doesn’t matter if it’s perfect (look at this blog it certainly isn’t!) as long as you have a go, and next time you’ll do it better.

Oh and if there are any tech issues which you are still having problems with go to my secret weapon – what is my secret weapon?  www.youtube.com type in your problem/question in the search box, there are bound to be dozens of videos on it!

Till next time – keep taking action!
